- Nearby trees dropping leaves, pollen, or needles.
- Heavy swimmer traffic, which introduces sunscreen, body oils, and organic debris.
- Warm climates where algae growth is a year-round risk rather than seasonal.
- Uncovered pools exposed to wind-blown dust and debris.

A general starting point
Many owners run their robot every other day to a few times a week during active swim season, and less often — or not at all — during an off-season when the pool is covered or closed.
